COERR Kanchanaburi Hosted the Ceremony to Celebrate His Majesty the King's 86th Birthday which is commemorated as the ‘Thailand’s Father’s Day’.

On December 5th,, 2013, at Tham Hin Camp, Suan Phueng District, Ratchaburi Province, His Majesty the King’s 86th Birthday Ceremony was organized by COERR Kanchanaburi Office. In the morning, the Thappraya Task Force Chief presided over the ceremony paying tribute and offering good wishes to His Majesty. In the afternoon, the friendship sport competition was held among staff of NGO, Camp Committee, refugees and the Ministry of Interior. In the evening, people taking part in the candle light ceremony in honor of His Majesty the King. Then 3 movies were played on open-air screen for refugees to watch. The ceremony was successful and admired by all attended. The Suan Phueng District Office later issued a letter of thanks to COERR and expressed a wish that the King’s Birthday ceremony will be organized next year.

Activities to Celebrate H.M. the King’s Birthday and the National Father’s Day at Mae Hong Son Camps On His Majesty the King’s Birthday of December 5th, 2013 which is also proclaimed the National Father’s Day, COERR Mae Hong Son celebrated this important ceremony with tree planting as a reforestation campaign in commemoration of H.M. the King. The aim is to raise refugees’ awareness in forest conservation. 790 plants were given to Ban Mai Nai Soi communities and 189 in Ban Mae Surin communities. Then the candle lighting ceremony was organized with candles supported by COERR.

790 seedlings of various species, mostly edible plants, were given to refugees for cultivation as follows: Jackfruit , Agati, Djenkol bean fruit, Tamarind, Jambolan plum, Neem plant, Indian gooseberry, Bird chili, Teak, Yang, Mango, Coconut and Olive.

In Ban Mae Surin Camp, 189 plants were used for decoration and then distributed to refugees for cultivation in camp as follows: Ixora, Gerdenia Crape Jasmine, Jasmine, Mango, Polyscias, Chinese Juniper, Yellow palm and Bougainvillea.
